What I expected from the conversion from mod to SA would have been bigger ambitions. I saw no difference in the quality of maps either, which still feel very amateur for my taste (Bastogne being snipers' paradise for example) the biggest issue being that they are very small and rifles have no role to play.

The mod laid out the core gameplay, the SA added the equivalent of a DLC. The SA is adding stuff on top of that, and that's great, but is it worth 14€ ? Again, each one of us is free to answer that according to how we value money, but in my case it is a very strict no.

The issue with Day of Infamy stand-alone (SA) is that the core of the experience, the gameplay, the fun, was what the mod built. The mod isn't revolutionary, it's not the best mod in the history of mods, but it did just that give us the feeling of what Day of Defeat would be today. What I enjoyed in the Day of Infamy mod was the experience, getting to fight in a different context. To go to that conclusion, you have to analyze what you get for the full price of 14€ (what I paid, with the NWI bundle):Įach and everyone of us is free to value money how they want.

Before jumping on the downvote button, hear me out. I have been a faithful defender and advocat of Insurgency since the game came out, but I have to admit what I refused to believe at first: Day of Infamy is not worth the money it cost.
